MEP Christine Anderson Slams Ursula von der Leyen Ahead of EU Parliament Re-Election Vote

During an impassioned speech at the European Parliament, MEP Christine Anderson fiercely criticized European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen just prior to the vote that renewed von der Leyen’s term for another five years. Anderson, renowned for her candid opinions, vehemently denounced von der Leyen’s leadership and policies.

Criticism of Policies and Governance

"Frau von der Leyen, you are a disgrace to every democracy," Anderson declared, criticizing von der Leyen's tenure as detrimental to European citizens. Anderson accused the President of pushing policies under the Green Deal and Fit for 55 that she claimed have led to deindustrialization, skyrocketing prices, and the erosion of freedom and democracy within the EU. "These programs destroy the lives of EU citizens," Anderson stated, underscoring her belief that von der Leyen’s initiatives have caused more harm than good.

Allegations of Corruption and Mismanagement

Anderson’s speech also delved into allegations of corruption and mismanagement. She highlighted a recent ruling by the European Court of Justice (ECJ) that von der Leyen should not have kept the contents of vaccine contracts secret. Anderson accused von der Leyen of negotiating a multi-billion dollar deal with Pfizer that resulted in a product she described as "at best useless, at worst harmful, and in some cases even deadly."

"Shame on you! Shame on you!" Anderson repeated, emphasizing her disdain for von der Leyen’s handling of the vaccine contracts and the broader implications for public trust and transparency.

Calls for Resignation

In her fervent critique, Anderson called for von der Leyen to step down, suggesting that the President's involvement in several corruption investigations disqualified her from continuing in her role. "If you had any decency, you wouldn't even run for re-election," Anderson charged. She concluded her speech by urging the Parliament to reject von der Leyen’s bid for another term, declaring, "You belong in disgrace, chased out of this Parliament and out of office."

Despite the intense criticism, Ursula von der Leyen was re-elected, securing another term as President of the European Commission. Anderson’s speech, however, underscored the deep divisions and significant opposition within the EU Parliament regarding von der Leyen’s leadership and policies.

Anderson’s speech resonates with many who share her concerns about transparency, governance, and the future direction of the European Union under von der Leyen’s continued leadership. As the EU moves forward, the scrutiny and debate over its leadership and policies are expected to intensify.

"Frau von der Leyen, you are a disgrace to democracy," Anderson declared, criticizing von der Leyen's leadership as harmful to Europeans. Anderson accused the President of promoting the Green Deal and Fit for 55 policies, which she claimed have caused deindustrialization, high prices, and a loss of freedom and democracy in the EU. "These programs ruin the lives of EU citizens," Anderson stated, emphasizing her view that von der Leyen’s actions have done more harm than good.
