Hungarian PM Considers Implementing Trump’s Proposed Tip Tax Cut

In the wake of a recent meeting with former President and current Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán hinted at adopting some of Trump’s economic policies, according to a report by Hungarian news outlet Magyar Nemzet.

In a radio interview with Kossuth Radio this morning, Orbán revealed discussions with Trump touched on both foreign policy and economic issues, highlighting the strong relationship between Orbán’s administration and Trump’s team, who are responsible for crafting his economic and foreign policy strategies.

“We had in-depth discussions about economic matters because we have a very collaborative relationship with the team that formulates his economic and foreign policy programs,” Orbán stated.

The Hungarian Prime Minister emphasized their collaborative efforts in shaping Trump’s policies on immigration and family issues, areas where Orbán claimed Hungary has substantial influence.

Conversely, Orbán expressed interest in incorporating certain elements of Trump’s economic agenda into Hungary’s policies as soon as next year. While he did not elaborate on specific measures, he acknowledged Trump’s emphasis on enhancing competitiveness and industrial growth, sectors where Hungary could see significant benefits.

One of the notable proposals Orbán found appealing was Trump’s plan to eliminate taxes on tips, a policy he believes could be beneficial for Hungary.

“If Trump wins the U.S. presidential election, he will implement this in the U.S. I find this idea commendable and see no justification for taxing tips in Hungary either,” Orbán remarked.
